Wednesday, October 26, 2016, 7:17 PM - It's a typical fall pattern currently impacting B.C.'s coast. A series of systems with breaks in between. Widespread rain continues through Thursday before improving conditions on Friday. After that, brace for another weekend storm.

Stormy conditions kicked off the week with ongoing wind warnings persisting through Thursday morning.

On Tuesday, Solander Island, located off West Vancouver Island, reported a peak wind gust of 163 km/h. That's the equivalent of a Category 2 hurricane force wind gust.

A deep low pressure system approaching Vancouver Island fueled more powerful winds near Bowen Island on Wednesday. Wind warnings were issued for both East and West Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast Wednesday afternoon.

"Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur," Environment Canada warned. "Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage."

The warnings finally lifted Thursday morning, but widespread rain is expected to continue.

"[Rain] should clear through the evening hours [Thursday,] leading to mainly dry conditions on Friday," says Weather Network meteorologist Erin Wenckstern. "Another low pressure system will move in for the weekend however, bringing with it additional rain showers."
