Monday, May 9, 2016, 3:41 PM - Wedding bells rang last Saturday for bride, Élise Boissonneult despite a devastating week due to the wildfires in her neighbourhood of Thickwood, Fort McMurray, Alta.

Boissonneult was forced to evacuate her home Tuesday. She was able to pack her four animals and meet her fiancé on the south side of town later that night. Unfortunately, the perfect dress for her wedding was being altered in the part of the town that was evacuated first.

Despite her loss, Boissonneult and her future husband flew to Toronto in order to continue their wedding plans.

The Weather Network reached out to its viewers to help Boissonneult find a replacement dress and the response was amazing! We received an outpour of emails, phone calls and tweets from past brides willing to donate their dresses. One viewer from Georgetown wrote, “I saw on TV that you have a lady, Élise that has her wedding dress stuck in Alberta….I have one and can deliver it anywhere in Toronto. Glad to help!”

Ultimately, the posts and donation offers, along with the hard work of Boissonneult's wedding photographer, inspired a Toronto bridal shop to provide a wedding gown. Thank you to our viewers for spreading the word! It is heartwarming to see our country come together in a time of tragedy.

The wildfires are still consuming much of the Alberta community. If you would like to make a donation visit the Canadian Red Cross
