VIDEO: Rainbow forms near Kansas tornado

Thursday, April 9, 2015, 6:35 PM - Storm chasers near Deerhead, Kansas captured an unusual spectacle on camera Wedensday: A rainbow near a tornado.
The video has been uploaded to YouTube, where it is steadily picking up views.
"This tornado was shot southwest of Medicine Lodge, Kansas near the community of Deerhead close to the Oklahoma border," reads a description on the video's YouTube page.
"The tornado spun up and became a stove pipe rather quickly with a beautiful backdrop of a rainbow as hail and rain came in sideways."
After a slow start to the season, active weather is back with a vengeance across parts of the U.S.

Parts of the U.S. Midwest have been hammered with tornadoes, hail and strong winds this month. That threat continued into Thursday, with tornado watches and warnings issued for parts of Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and Missouri.
At least one tornado was spotted near Peoria Illinois, during the afternoon -- but there have been no reports of damage or injuries.
