Monday, May 21, 2018, 2:14 PM - Two men were killed in a skydiving accident Saturday after colliding mid-air and making a hard landing in Menzelinsk, a town located in Russia's Republic of Tatarstan.

Seven skydivers performed a free fall from a plane flying at least 4,000 metres high, according to the country's Investigative Committee.

As the athletes opened their parachutes, one man flew into the already opened parachute of another skydiver. As a result of the collision, both men lost consciousness.

The video above shows both of the skydivers falling to the ground. One died in an ambulance, and the other a few hours later in hospital.

According to the committee, both men had considerable experience in the extreme sport, with at least 600 hours of skydiving each.

The men have been identified by Russian media as Oleg Shchelkanov, 47, and Rushan Sibgatullin, 33.
