The saying 'you can run, but you can't hide' holds especially true when there is snow on the ground.

A trail of snowy footprints lead to the arrest of a man after allegedly trying to break into a western Newfoundland apartment on Sunday.

According to the Canadian Press, The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in Corner Brook were called to the building on Main Street around 4 a.m. today.

Officials say the suspect had fled the area by the time they arrived, but had left a trail of footprints in the fresh snow.

The footprints eventually lead them to a man attempting to break into several businesses around the Commercial Street area.

The 20-year-old suspect was arrested and police say more charges are possible.
