Wednesday, August 29, 2018, 8:38 AM - Wednesday could make it 3/3 for severe thunderstorm activity across Ontario this week. Fueled by intense humidity, storms have crackled to life over the past couple of days with Environment Canada confirming an EF-0 touch down from Monday's round. See more of the intense and damaging impact, below.

TORNADO CONFIRMED

On Monday night, Environment Canada warned of a thunderstorm just after 8:30 p.m. local time that produced a brief tornado. A high-end EF-0 tracked from Guthrie to Oro Station and possibly across Lake Simcoe, likely with winds of 120 km/h. The weather agency says a communication tower was snapped in half and damage was reported to small structures and fences.

"We do have a tornado right across the field from me right now that is on the ground and you can actually see it beginning to spiral up," said Weather Network Storm Hunter Mark Robinson who captured the tornado live in Oro-Medonte.

Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued once again Tuesday night for areas including, Goderich, Wingham, Saugeen Shores, Kincardine, Sauble Beach and the Bruce Peninsula where impressive lightning, heavy downpours and powerful winds whipped through the overnight hours.

WEDNESDAY'S STORM THREAT

Hot and humid weather still persists over southern and eastern Ontario, which will spark another round of thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and evening as a strong cold front slices through from the north. Strong to severe thunderstorm development is possible in eastern Ontario ahead of the cold front and across parts of the Golden Horseshoe, into the Niagara region. Be sure to check back for updates and stay on top of the watches and warnings as storms progress in your area.
