One of its many nicknames is ‘the city that never sleeps.’

New York City has a storied history and many famous features, but for more than 8.3 million people it's simply referred to as 'home,' making it the biggest city in the U.S. by population.

Many move about using the city’s iconic yellow cabs, but even more use the subway system. It’s one of the biggest and oldest public transit systems in the world – taking passengers along 1056 km of track, more than the distance from Montreal to Moncton.

Cabs and subways, landmarks and daily scenes all reflect some of its legendary energy, as  this week's featured time lapse travels to New York City with cinematographer Cameron Michael.
