The Weather Network is a 24/7 operation.

We’ve got a large team of meteorologists, production staff and support teams producing literally thousands of forecasts and features that go out every day on TV, web and mobile platforms.

Snowstorms, heat waves, hurricanes – the hub is always the newsroom.

This is where presenters like me and production teams get their weather updates from the briefing meteorologist on duty. They, in turn, are supported by meteorologists in the forecast centre who analyze reams of weather data and prepare forecasts for all of Canada.

Back in the newsroom, producers create show lineups, editors package videos, writers update stories, and presenters take their place in the studios.

    It’s a complex, fascinating business.

Today’s time lapse takes you behind the scenes at the Weather Network.

BEAUTIFUL VANCOUVER Next week, we;re heading west.
