Satellite images tell forecasters a lot about weather patterns.

They're fascinating for amateur cloud watchers as well.

This week, we're taking a look at 10 years of weather satellite imagery, courtesy of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

WE LOVE TIME LAPSE! And so do you! In the weeks to come, we'll be featuring some of YOUR great work!!

The time lapse we're featuring only showcases an excerpt of the 10-year period -- but NOAA's full-length time lapse spans from 2001 to 2011.
