There's a chance you drank dinosaur urine. Here's why

Saturday, May 30, 2015, 8:31 PM - Although it may be filtered, there's a chance your water could have passed through a dinosaur.

While most of the water molecules in an eight-ounce glass of water have never been drunk by another human, science group Curious Minds argues, almost every single molecule has been drunk by a dinosaur.

A video explaining this theory was recently published by Curious Minds on YouTube.

"Humans consume a lot of water, but our species hasn't had the numbers or time to process a large portion of the Earth's water," the video explains. "Dinosaurs on the other hand had a long time to drink water.

The Mesozoic era - the reign of the dinosaurs - lasted around 186 million years, the video states. Unlike humans who have been on the Earth for a small fraction of that time, it is likely dinosaurs drunk all of the water available back then. Thus, it is possible every drop of water on Earth passed through this prehistoric species.

This is not the first time this theory has come about.

"We're very touchy about reusing waste water and I think we need to sort of think differently about that. All the water on earth has been through a dinosaur kidney. Every bottle of Evian you drink from is Tyrannosaurus Rex pee," Charles Fisherman, author ofThe Big Thirst: The Secret Life and Turbulent Future of Water toldMarketplace.org. "All the water on earth has been here for 4.5 billion years. It's all toilet-to-tap at some level."
