Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for parts of southern Ontario early Thursday.

Strong southwest winds ranging from 40 to 60 km/h are forecast with gusts up to 80 km/h in some places.

"A wind warning remains in effect for regions near eastern lake Erie where gusts to 90 km/h are possible," EC adds in their statement.

Despite the gusty conditions expected through the day, much of the region can expect a significant rebound in temperatures.

That's after winter-like weather and heavy snow squalls challenged drivers across the region earlier this week.

A daytime high of 8°C is forecast for the City of Toronto on Thursday with double digit highs expected on Saturday and Sunday.

That's great news for those planning to line the streets for the Santa Claus parade, but be sure to keep an umbrella handy as some wet weather is likely through the day on Sunday.
