The back to school ads have become a constant staple at every turn and some Weather Network viewers have even spotted signs of fall in their own backyards.

As summer comes to a close it often becomes a time of reflection for many. Some start to wonder how the time has evaded them. It’s as though an acceleration pedal of time got slammed to the floor as soon as the calendar hit June 21.

Weather Network viewers were asked to send in pictures of their #summertravel and one thing became quite evident. Canadians know how to make the most of summer.

Some had the chance to travel abroad while making wishes come true and others said Aloha to the sun and sand.

Others discovered just how much diversity Canada has to offer.

Brady got to soak in some cottage life while enjoying the dog days of summer at Lake Simcoe, Ontario.

Those that took a visit to Newfoundland had the chance to reconnect with nature.

Little Jack proved that it is never too early to embrace the travel bug.

Michele Knevel found that there is beauty around every turn while on a journey from Whitehorse, Yukon to Skagway, Alaska and Marilyn Archibald enjoyed the open road in Alberta.

After a relentless winter for many in Canada there is no doubt that these summer escapes were well earned. As much as the summer holidays are coming to an end there is still one final week to squeeze in an adventure.

Meteorologist Dr. Doug Gillam says, “Through next week the cold in the Prairies starts to ease and slowly tracks east. The Western Prairies will make a return back to seasonal. In British Columbia temperatures will be near to above seasonal potentially cooling by late week. It will be rather summer like in southern Ontario and into the Maritimes. Newfoundland will also be warming up through the week.”

When planning your summer travels check in at The Weather Network on TV for the latest forecast details.

PATTERN CHANGE: Dr. Doug Gillham provides a detailed analysis of the weather for the end of August.
