Strong winds leave thousands in the dark in Illinois

    Snow-laden trees and power lines rhythmically swayed and danced under the force of sustained 32 km/h hour winds in Illinois this week.

    The winds took out traffic lights and forced police to put up barricades.

    At the height of the storm, tens of thousands of people lost power.

    One local high school was forced to keep nearly 3,000 students home after the building lost electricity Wednesday.

    In Chicago, falling ice from a building hit a car leaving a driver a bit frazzled.

    A two-by-two foot sheet of ice fell off the Boeing building and shattered the windshield.
