Take an audio tour of the world with Soundscapes
Tuesday, April 10, 2018, 12:37 PM - From Cancun to Tokyo, from Johannesburg to Lillehammer, Orbitz.com asked 36 locals to share sound recordings and photos of the landscapes and cities they all call home.
SHARE YOUR WEATHER: Upload your photos and videos to The Weather Network. You might see them on TV!
The sound associated with a place can reveal more about its culture, heritage and character than an image. A picture of the waves in Cancun alone, for example, may not do the place justice. But combine it with soothing sounds and your mind wanders off and lands right on the beach.
The intention behind the project was to share sound recordings and photos of various locations, allowing the user to experience the world through the eyes and ears of locals.
It also pays tribute to these beautiful locations, many of which are not always on people's radars when researching travel destinations.
