Who needs winter when you have a fall that looks like this?

A strong system pushed into Alberta and Saskatchewan early this week leaving some areas digging out of 40 cm of snow.

That same system continued to move into southern Manitoba on Wednesday, prompting snowfall warnings across the region.

The warnings have since been dropped, but not before up to 25 cm was recorded.

" The main area of snow has moved farther east however some snow is still lingering in the wake of the storm," says Environment Canada in their Thursday morning statement. "An additional 2 to 4 cm of snow is expected before tapering off in the afternoon."

The combination of fresh snow and strong north winds gusting to 60 km/h will cause reduced visibilities in the Red River Valley Thursday, EC warns.

As a result, drivers should prepare for winter conditions on the roads and adjust travel plans accordingly.
