Snow removal truck bursts into flames in Montreal

Tuesday, December 29, 2015, 7:29 PM - Smoke and flames engulfed a residential street in Montreal's Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough Tuesday after a private snow-removal truck caught fire.

Andrea Videtic, who witnessed the event from her living room window, told the CBC the truck started to smoke shortly after it finished clearing a driveway around noon.

That quickly progressed into flames, she says.

"As time progressed over a period of about 30 minutes the flames grew and grew, and the whole thing became engulfed in flames," Videtic told the CBC.

"I was very scared that there was going to be an explosion."

Firefighters were put out the fire within the hour.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

The snow removal truck fire occurred in the wake of Montreal's first significant snowfall of the season.
