Wednesday, June 11, 2014, 9:58 AM - The same system that's bringing heavy rain to Ontario will slowly move northeastward and will begin to affect southern Quebec late Wednesday.

"Thunderstorms could be intense and give torrential rainfall amounts locally through Saturday, but give minimal amounts elsewhere," says EC.

Over 50 mm of rain is expected over the course of the next three days, which could result in flash flood and water pooling on roads.

This latest system is expected to significantly bump up average rainfall totals, including in Montreal.

LOOK AHEAD: 'Outstanding' Father's Day expected in southern Ontario.

"The city received 22 mm of rain since the beginning of June and is expected to approach its monthly average (83 mm) after only 15 days," says The Weather Network's sister station meteomedia.com.

Conditions are expected to improve in time for the Father's Day weekend with lots of sunshine and seasonal temperatures expected.
