Tuesday, December 2, 2014, 3:10 PM - Australia is about to enter its hottest period of the year, and that has people flocking to the beach.
But beach-goers at Coffs Harbour got more than a little sun, sand and relaxation recently when a giant shark lept out of the water right in front of them.
According to Sky News, the shark made its dramatic appearance in the middle of a surfing competition and it apparently breached the surface twice, sending frantic surfers paddling to back to shore.
Spectator Steph Bellamy was able to catch it on camera.

"I saw a splash and wondered what it was, than I hit the button on the camera wondering if I got it, then when I checked the picture I couldn't believe it," she told Sky News.
Event organizers kept competitors out of the water for 15 minutes before resuming the festivities.
No injuries were reported.
