Environment Canada says a cluster of storms around Calgary and surrounding communities could produce strong wind gusts and quarter to toonie-sized hail.

"The severe storms are currently just west of Airdrie and are tracking southeast at 30 km/h," said the agency in a weather statement at 4:58 MDT.

Residents are advised to take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
