Golf ball-sized hail smashes windshields in Alta. See photos

Thursday, August 2, 2018, 8:04 PM - Residents across southern Alberta were hit with large hail Thursday afternoon as severe thunderstorms rolled across the region.
"Biggest hail I've ever seen in Bragg Creek, AB this afternoon," Twitter user Carl Hall-Gallus posted.
Hail destroyed canopies and smashed vehicle windshields in the City of Calgary, where up to golf ball-sized stones were reported.

Meanwhile, a peak wind gust of 86 km/h was recorded in Rocky Mountain House.
Severe thunderstorm warnings and watches were in effect across the region, including Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane, Olds, Red Deer, Ponoka, and Rocky Mountain House.
The risk for severe thunderstorms shifts to the east for Friday to include Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
