Halloween is just barely over and holiday prep for the Christmas season is already underway.

Santa Claus will be busy over the next couple of weeks as he stars in several annual parades.

Each year, thousands of people line the streets in hopes of catching a glimpse of Saint Nick.

Depending on where you live, that could mean dealing with extreme weather conditions.

PREPARE FOR THE PARADE: Holiday enthusiasts are urged to check the local forecast before heading to the parade.

Dressing appropriately for the weather conditions is important to make the parade experience more enjoyable. Event organizers are also keeping a close eye on the forecast to prepare for possible problems the weather could bring.

"It's hard to plan for the weather for an outdoor event," says Peter Beresford, President of Toronto's Santa Claus parade, which is scheduled for Sunday, November 17. "We try and make sure that all of our floats are sturdy and secure so there are no problems with winds."

Beresford adds that no matter the weather, the Santa Claus parade goes on.

"So you want to make sure you stay warm and that you have a rain jacket just in case."
