Prosser tried to contact city officials 14 times about the problem. While the birthday display was intended as a joke, the Jackson resident says he was frustrated with the city's lack of attention.

"I do find our problems in the city of Jackson serious, but at the same time, it's just one small pothole," Prosser told WJTV News. "When they fix the potholes just a block away, it wouldn't have taken another 10 minutes [to fix this one.]"
After the pothole party went viral, city officials finally filled it in.
