In fact, some parts of the province are facing frost advisories.
"A combination of clear skies and light winds will allow temperatures to fall to near freezing again tonight over interior parts of Newfoundland," says Environment Canada in Friday morning's advisory. "As a result, patchy frost can be expected early Saturday morning, mainly in low lying areas."
Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to the reach freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops, EC adds.
"This is certainly untimely to see this type of warning with it being July, but it's definitely not unheard of for Newfoundland," says Weather Network meteorologist Matt Grinter. "The average temperature for the city of St. John's is 20°C at this time of year, but next week the city will barely crack the 10 degree mark."
Rather cool temperatures and unsettled weather will also spread across the Maritimes late Saturday through early next week.
