IN PHOTOS: Nor'easter takes aim at Atlantic Canada
Friday, January 5, 2018, 10:23 AM - A powerful nor'easter slammed into the Maritimes and Newfoundland this week, hitting the region at peak intensity on Thursday and continuing on into Friday.
That system has brought heavy snow and powerful winds to Canada's east coast, with storm surge and up to 40 cm of snow forecast for the Maritimes through Friday. Meanwhile, Newfoundland recorded wind gusts up to 130 kilometres per hour.
Widespread power outages were reported, along with damage to buildings and infrastructure, as a result of the storm's intense winds.
Here's a look at the storm's effects, led by on-the-spot photos from The Weather Network's Atlantic reporter Nathan Coleman.
