Dog protects cat during a thunderstorm
Monday, July 20, 2015, 5:45 PM - Severe thunderstorms ripped through Los Angeles, California over the weekend, prompting one young cat to run for cover. Thankfully, the kitten had a protector in the house.
Images of Terra the dog keeping a watchful eye over Toast the kitten were uploaded to the content-sharing site Reddit on Saturday.
They've since gone viral, racking up more than a million views.
"Came home to my roommate's dog protecting my kitten from the loud thunder and lightning outside," reads the title of the Reddit post, which was created by YungDemon.
One of the most common names for a fear of storms is astraphobia and it has been documented in both humans and animals.
Some pet owners say the use of 'calming vests' can help reduce astraphobia in animals.
The vests work to apply uniform pressure to the animal, relieving stress.
