Pennsylvania couple grows 800-lb pumpkin in five weeks
Saturday, September 12, 2015, 1:30 PM - One couple is starting off fall festivities on a whole new scale.
The pair, residents of Scranton, Pennsylvania, are the owners of an 800-lb, homegrown pumpkin.
It was the first time Matt Gawel and his fiancée, Alyssa Fargione, have ever tried to grow a pumpkin. In five weeks, they harvested an 812-lb super pumpkin.
"I thought 500 pounds at most, but everyday we come down after work and measure it and it keeps gaining and gaining," Fargione told CNN.
The couple intends to take the pumpkin to local fairs -- once they're able to move it, of course.RELATED: Deer with pumpkin on head finally caught (Adorable!)
