Tuesday, May 1, 2018, 5:37 AM - A major highway in North Carolina was closed to traffic in eastern North Carolina after a large sinkhole appeared in the road Wednesday night, and it's all due to beavers.
Crews are working to repair the 2-metre wide and 2-metre deep sinkhole.

It all started when beavers built a dam under the road in Beaufort County, which blocked rain on both sides.
Over time the area flooded and the foundation weakened, causing the road's eventual collapse.
During the highway closure drivers have been forced to take a 9-kilometre detour.
