Monday brought rain, with snow set to impact northeastern Ontario and western Quebec into Tuesday morning with 15-25 cm possible, along with very strong northerly winds gusting up to 80 km/h.
As a result, Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for places including Fort Albany, Moosonee and Timmins.
Blowing snow is likely with near zero visibility at times, making for difficult travel. Conditions are expected to improve by Tuesday afternoon.
With the storm being strongest the day before Halloween, forecasters suggest temporarily taking down or otherwise securing Halloween decorations.
Behind the storm, a sharp cooldown looms, with single-digit daytime highs expected, making for a chilly night for trick or treating.
