MUST SEE: Deadly snakes wrestle on Singapore street

Saturday, August 29, 2015, 10:00 AM - Ever wondered who would win the ultimate struggle for survival in a fight between a python and a cobra?

The video above holds the answer.

Students and faculty at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore were treated to ringside seats when two deadly snakes engaged in a full-on street fight on Thursday afternoon.

In one corner, a reticulated python packed a metaphorical punch with the power of constriction. In the opposite corner, one of the world's deadliest venomous serpents, also known as the king cobra, attempted to hold its own.

The python could be seen coiling its body around the cobra's neck as the snakes sparred on the ground, much to the delight of witnesses who managed to capture the scuffle on camera.

The fierce fight lasted about 30 minutes, before the two-metre long king cobra managed to escape the python's iron grasp and slither away into nearby bushes.

Students alerted the school's pest control services and they were able to safely remove the python from the scene, but were unable to immediately locate the cobra.

After discovering the missing snake in a drain, pest control workers used sulfur powder to draw the cobra out from its hiding place.

The king cobra will be relocated to a local zoo, according to the university student council 's Facebook page, with no word on what will become of the python. Many students commented that they had never seen wild snakes of that size on campus before.

Both species of snake are native to southeast Asia.
