Must-See: Whiteout conditions continue for eastern Prairies
Digital Reporter
Wednesday, March 8, 2017, 11:41 AM - Relentless blizzards blustered across parts of southeastern Saskatchewan and Manitoba this week, with zero-visibility conditions leaving drivers stranded and highways closed.
The storms began Monday evening. A general 20 to 30 cm of snow is expected for southern sections of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Northern Manitoba and northeastern parts of Saskatchewan, however, can expect upwards of 80 cm by the time the storm passes on Thursday.

"Due to the extreme weather conditions and how long they have persisted, the situation [was] starting to become threatening to peoples' lives that [were] stuck on the highway," The Weather Network meteorologist Matt Grinter said on Tuesday, when motorists were left stranded due to severe weather. "Because people [were] running out of gas, they [were] only turning their car on when absolutely necessary," Grinter noted, highlighting that the windchill in the area west of Brandon felt close to -30.
Many stranded travellers are starting to run out of fuel. With a -30C windchill this is a very dangerous situation. #mbstorm
