Here is your morning briefing for Tuesday October 21

1. No rest for Atlantic Canada

They do say 'when it rains, it pours' for a reason. Gonzalo may have moved out of the region but Atlantic Canada is not in the clear just yet. Brisk conditions will die down today ahead of a nor'easter moving into Nova Scotia Thursday and Thursday night.

The system will mostly impact Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. It's expected to bring extended periods of unsettled weather to the Maritimes. The heaviest rain should be on Thursday but bands of moderate rain will be very slow to advance north and east across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Wind will also become strong and gusty as this system hits. While more accurate amounts will be known going forward, up to 80 millimetres of rainfall could have fallen in central and southern New Brunswick by the time it's all done.

2. The showers continue for Ontario

There's still a little more rain left for the province. Scattered showers will continue today before clearing up during the late evening.

It feels a little chilly but temperatures are hovering around seasonal. But that's probably going to change as we head into the weekend. Things will warm up on Friday and into next week with temperatures becoming above seasonal.

Additionally, the moisture from the system affecting the Maritimes could trigger some showers for eastern Ontario on Thursday.

3.The trend is broken

It's been pretty ideal weather for much of the Praries the last couple of days. But now that's going to change. A low is forming and travelling northeast into Saskatchewan today. Southeast Alberta will also see some rain today before the system moves into Manitoba for Wednesday.

Temperatures will remain abouve seasonal today and tomorrow. Southern Saskatchewan could go as high as the mid-20s.

4.How far away is the sun?

Even though it's been a really rainy week for British Columbia, it's not over quite yet.

The next system moves into the B.C. coast later this evening and brings with it—you guessed it—more rain. Highest amounts expected could exceed 100 mm.

But hold on just a little longer. The next chance to see the sun poke out is Friday.
