Saturday, June 24, 2017, 9:12 AM - The summer solstice brought Manitoba's first confirmed tornado of the season.

The twister touched down near Sapotaweyak Cree Nation in Pelican Rapids, Man., around 2:30 p.m. CDT. There were no reports of damage and because of this, Environment Canada gave an EF-0 rating to this tornado, with peak winds estimated between 105-137 km/h.

Environment and Climate Change Canada's Prairie and Arctic Storm Prediction Centre's (PASPC) meteorologists are actively seeking any pictures of the tornado or damage it may have caused. The agency is asking the public to email ec.storm.ec@canada.ca with any information regarding this event.

Several photos of the twister were posted on social media Wednesday afternoon, including the one below.

Saturday is the last day for showers in southern Manitoba associated with the trough from a Great Lakes system.

A warm-up follows the showers, with temperatures returning to the mid-20s Sunday and into the start the week.

By midweek, a system looks to develop east of the Rockies and track across the region, with a cold front likely to bring a return to below seasonal temperatures, adds Gillham.

Check back for updates as we continue to monitor the forecast.
