Friday, January 25, 2019, 7:49 PM - Canadians are well acquainted with the challenges that winter conditions present to drivers and pedestrians, and a video submitted to the Weather Network by a viewer shows just how dangerous winter weather can be.

Quebec has struggled with particularly challenging winter conditions this week, including hours of freezing rain on Thursday, which resulted in extensive school closures and power outages.

In the video above, an elderly man is seen attempting to cross through the street on the corner of Rue Guy and Avenue Argyle in downtown Montreal when he slips on ice.

He was able regain his footing, but moments later falls again and remains motionless after possibly hitting his head hard on the ice.

Nearby drivers attempt to approach the man and offer their assistance, but both struggle with the dangerously icy conditions as well.

The footage does not show what happens after, but Urgences-Santé told the Weather Network that the motionless man was taken to the hospital by paramedics.

The extent of his injuries and condition are currently unknown.
