Heavy, blowing snow prompts flight cancellations in Quebec, upwards of 30 cm possible

The same winter storm that turned deadly in the United States continued to move through the Maritimes on Thursday.
Several school cancellations and power outages were reported across the region early Friday as the storm brings heavy rain, snow and powerful winds.

Snow associated with the system also began over southern Quebec on Friday prompting Environment Canada to issue a snowfall warning for the city of Montreal.
Dozens of flights at Montreal's Trudeau International Airport were delayed or cancelled on Thursday with more travel headaches expected Friday.
"Inclement weather on the East Coast of the United States is causing flight delays and cancellations. We recommend that passengers from and to these destinations contact their carrier," the airport's website read early Friday.
Poor road conditions are also expected throughout the day with upwards of 15 cm of snow possible in some places.
"Snow at time heavy, strong to high winds and blowing snow are affecting much of Quebec today," said Environment Canada in the warning Friday. "Total snowfall accumulations of 15 to 30 centimetres are generally expected. However, the higher terrain in the Eastern Townships, Charlevoix and the eastern Gaspe Peninsula will see 30 to 60 cm."
"CAUTION: These winter storm conditions could make travel impossible," EC warned.
