Environment Canada issued a special weather statement early Friday warning of snow and gusty winds of up to 80 km/h.

Snow began falling in the area Friday morning, resulting in slick roads and reduced visibility.

Witnesses said that at the time of the crash, visibility had been reduced to 25 or 30 feet.

Multiple accidents are being reported on southern Ontario roadways due to the conditions.
