Tuesday, October 7, 2014, 4:05 PM - At least five people are dead and nearly thirty injured after a major quake hit China's Yunnan province Tuesday.
The epicentre of the 6.0 quake was about 10 kilometres deep.
Local media reports that shaking could be felt in several cities. Officials say the number of casualties is likely to rise.
There have been reports of structural damage to some houses near the epicentre of the quake.
The area, which is prone to seismic activity, is home to approximately 300,000 people.
In August a magnitude-6.3 quake hit the area, killing 600 people.
