Major country to ban diesel, gas, fossil-fuel cars by 2025

Sunday, June 26, 2016, 4:34 PM - Four of Norway's major political parties have agreed to ban the sale of any new cars that use gasoline or diesel in 2025.
Though the motion is not yet officially the law, Elon Musk -- co-founder and CEO of American electric car giant Tesla Motors -- was quick to celebrate.

Though the idea might sound like a long shot, Norway isn't the only country considering the switch to green-energy vehicles. India plans to switch entirely to electric cars by 2030, while the Netherlands is considering the same proposal as their European counterpart by 2025.

But Norway's stance on green energy is an interesting one. Though the Scandinavian country generates more than 90 per cent of its energy from renewable hydropower, it is also Europe's largest petroleum producer. Fossil fuels make up 45 per cent of Norway's exports and 20 per cent of its GDP.
There are reports that some conservative party representatives have been uncertain about the proposal.
