Tuesday, February 17, 2015, 2:16 PM - A Maine newspaper confused readers Monday when a graphic indicating a blizzard had been "cancelled" was misinterpreted.

The publication was apparently flooded with calls from readers who thought their subscriptions had been cancelled, prompting the Sun Journal to issue a clarification.

"The word was used as a graphic element to "cancel" the underlying headline "Blizzard on the way," indicating as boldly as possible that the much-unwelcome storm never materialized in our primary readership area of Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties," the paper says.

“We apologize for the confusion, and assure you — our readers — that we were not stamping you out. Just the snow.”

That's not to say there isn't more snow in the forecast, with chilly temperatures and periods of snow expected through the week and into the weekend.
