Tuesday, December 16, 2014, 2:37 PM - Back in November, Environment Canada senior climatologist Dave Phillips called Winnipeggers the 'weather weenies' of Canada, arguing that Environment Canada is the most popular government website in the country and the city that gets the most hits is Winnipeg.
It's true -- Winnipeggers are fascinated with the weather.
But so are the rest of us.
As it turns out, Canadians are the 'weather weenies' of the world, and by a landslide.
A new report by Influence Communication that analyzes all major news stories in 2014 found that sports and weather-related news dominate our headlines.
"The Canadian scene is also marked by its obsession with sports and weather," the report reads.

"Compared to the averages of 160 countries studied, Canadian media ran 10% more sports coverage, while weather took up 229% more place in our media than
elsewhere on the planet."
Canada the home of weather extremes and intense storms, so it's no surprise we're constantly scanning the forecast.
