On Friday, a 15-year-old boy died in Surrey after a tree fell on him. He was removed by emergency services and rushed to hospital, but did not survive.

The storms' strong winds, with peak gusts that have surpassed the 100 km/h threshold, impacted more than 200,000 B.C. Hydro customers. Tens of thousands were without power on Saturday morning, and again on Sunday as a typhoon-fueled system left behind more downed trees and power poles.

B.C. Hydro reports that the number of customers without power over three days peaked at 284,000, though fewer than 3,000 were left in the dark as the sun set on Friday.
