Saturday, July 21, 2018, 4:59 PM - The work week went out with a bang on the western Prairies, with some scary skies and strong storms rolling through the region.
Storms lasted well into Friday night across Alberta and Saskatchewan, making for torrential local downpours, hail, and strong winds, though with no tornadoes reported despite some significant potential.
"There were a couple of notable storms near Lloydminster and north of Swift Current, that brought very heavy rainfall and hail, and showed the best potential for tornadic development," Weather Network meteorologist Nadine Hinds-Powell says. "No Tornado watches/warnings were issued, and there have been no official reports of tornadoes."
Here's a sample of how those storms played out on social media.
