IN PHOTOS: Snowball warriors take over Edmonton park
Sunday, December 7, 2014, 5:37 PM - The snow wasn't too great, but that didn't keep hundreds of people from gathering at Edmonton's Kinsmen Park Sunday for an epic #yegsnowfight.
The snowball fight was the brainchild of two Edmontonians, Robin Mazumder and Jeff Chase, who thought it would be a ball for strangers to come out and embrace the season and all the joys that come along with it.
News of the event snowballed on social media and about about 2,800 people signed up for a text message announcing the time, date and place.
"#yegsnowfight was really just about celebrating winter in the city," Chase told Global News. "We love the snow and we love being together with Edmontonians. This is just really a way to embrace winter and build some community with people we might not know."
And since word of the event took-off on social media, it was no surprise that participants were quick to share their pictures online. Take a look at some of the flash mob-style snow battle photos below.
