Forget heading south. If you live in the Prairies, temperatures may be feeling "tropical" in some places this weekend.

Remember this time last week?

The Weather Network was warning Prairie residents to brace for dangerously cold temperatures.

Frigid lows into the -40s were forecast, feeling closer to -60 with the windchill.

Now, as we head into this weekend, temperatures are set to significantly rise.

The same systems that brought more snow and difficult driving to the region will help to usher in some milder air.

Regina, Saskatchewan for example, will see temps rise to 3°C by Sunday.

"The warmest air will be felt in Alberta where Chinook winds will bring temps into the double digits starting on Saturday for some," says Monica Vaswani, a meteorologist at The Weather Network.
