A system pushing into parts of BC and Alberta could bring up to 75 mm of rain through Saturday.

The low will bring bands of showers and thunderstorms to BC's southern Interior on Thursday with locally heavy rainfall accumulations of up to 50 mm possible by Friday afternoon.

Officials recommend that municipalities and agencies with responsibility for drainage works within the area inspect the infrastructure to prevent any localized flooding.

Parts of central and southern Alberta can also expect a heavy rain event.

"On Friday as the low moves over northwest Montana, easterly upslope winds will develop that will aid in maintaining an area of rain over the foothills," Environment Canada warns.

50-75 mm of rain is expected before the low moves out of the region late Saturday.
