After days of heavy rain across Newfoundland, conditions are gradually improving.

"The rain is slowly moving out of Atlantic Canada after up to 100 mm fell in some places since Wednesday," says Elena Lappo, a meteorologist at The Weather Network.

Flash flooding hit places like St. John's where close to 90 mm of rain was reported.

"An additional 5-10 mm is forecast through Friday, but by the evening hours the precipitation will be done."

Lappo adds that high pressure will dominate through the weekend with clear, sunny skies expected.
