Sunday, May 21, 2017, 4:27 PM - A chilly and somewhat windy Saturday has given way to a similarly cool, and wet, Sunday across southern Ontario, with thunderstorm risk in the southwest.
Showers began overnight in much of the southwest, and will continue on and off across the south of the province for Sunday, with temperatures not much higher than the mid teens.
A general 15-30 mm is expected by the time the rain clears out early Monday, lasting longest in northern Ontario and southern Quebec.

Amounts could be locally higher in areas where thunderstorms spark Sunday, and the biggest risk zone for that is the southwest of the province, from Windsor to about the London and Waterloo areas, with storms sparking up over the border in Michigan by the late afternoon.
"A cold front will sweep through Southwestern Ontario late this afternoon bringing showers and thunderstorms with it from Lower Michigan," a special weather statement from Environment Canada read Sunday afternoon. "The thunderstorms may produce wind gusts to 70 km/h, and very heavy downpours giving a quick 15 to 25 mm of rain in under an hour. Frequent lightning is also possible with some of the thunderstorms."

Looking ahead to the holiday Monday, it's looking like the nicest day of the weekend overall, with mostly clear skies and daytime highs likely in the high teens, and possibly exceeding 20oC on Tuesday. As a whole, however, the week to come is looking unsettled.
"We're looking at the next system developing mid-week, though it could have much more of an impact for Atlantic Canada compared to Ontario and Quebec," Weather Network meteorologist Brett Soderholm said early Sunday. "Wither way, unsettled conditions are expected mid-to-late week."
