Meteorologists were tracking a potentially dangerous cell in Fergus, Ontario on Sunday. Storm chaser Dave Patrick tweeted the photo, featured above, at around 6pm EDT.

"A weak thunderstorm with small scale favourable meteorological conditions was able to produce a brief, weak tornado south of Fergus, Ontario," said Brad Rousseau, a meteorologist at The Weather Network.

No tornado watches and warnings were issued by Environment Canada, however isolated non-severe thunderstorms are expected over southern Ontario this evening.

"The storms that produced the funnel clouds earlier this evening are slowly tracking towards the GTA and will bring localized torrential downpours and the potential for gusty winds through this evening," said Doug Gillham, another meteorologist at The Weather Network.

Meanwhile, clusters of non-severe thunderstorms associated with slow moving upper low will persist over Northeastern Ontario this evening and overnight.

Some regions are expected to have 2 or 3 rounds of thunderstorm in the next 12 to 18 hours and will exceed the 50 mm per 24 hour threshold for rainfall warning.
