Friday, September 23, 2016, 11:09 AM - As overnight lows dip close to the freezing mark, the threat for frost creeps into the weekend forecast for several areas across Eastern Canada.
Temperatures will take a plunge in southern Ontario, feeling at least 10 degrees cooler in some places, which is more seasonal for this time of year. Parts of Cottage Country, eastern Ontario and western Quebec could see frost develop. Meanwhile, northern New Brunswick could also see frosty conditions with clear skies and overnight lows in the single digits expected through Sunday.
"It is common to see frost on cool and clear nights with light or calm winds," explains The Weather Network meteorologist Nadine Powell-Hinds. "When the temperature drops to what we call the dew point, which is below freezing, moisture condenses out as frozen precipitation. This scenario will happen through central Ontario where the high pressure will be centered."
