Sunday, July 24, 2016, 9:52 AM - China's monsoonal floods have hit hard this year, killing scores and leaving and tens of thousands displaced in the country's north and central regions.

It's been declared the worst flooding in almost 20 years. More than 140,000 homes have been destroyed during the country's summer floods, the Washington Post Reports, with over 54,000 square kilometres of farm land inundated.

Flash floods and landslides struck the provinces of Hebei and Henan the worst, with 53,000 homes destroyed in Hebei alone, the BBC reports.

Proof is in the photos -- government officials recently announced that the summer floods have cost China more than $22 billion, making this the second-costliest flooding on record in China.
