Tuesday, December 12, 2017, 8:32 AM - Snow continues to fall across southern Ontario as an Alberta clipper targets the region, making for tricky roadways.

Communities can expect anywhere from 8-25 cm of snow, with more than 30 cm expected in the traditional snow belt areas through Wednesday.

Snow squall warnings and watches remain in effect from Sarnia to Barrie, with strong northwest winds gusting up to 70 km/h in the wake of the clipper.

"There is the potential for these snow squalls to become stationary for several hours at a time this afternoon into Wednesday," says Environment Canada. "If this happens, local snowfall amounts of 30 cm or more are possible in the region, including the City of London."

The Ontario Provincial Police say there have been 10 collisions involving jack-knifed tractor-trailers in the Greater Toronto Area since the storm began.

Snow is expected to taper to flurries from west to east by Tuesday afternoon, but flurries will continue into the evening commute for eastern Ontario.

The Weather Network meteorologists say it's the first accumulating snow for the area, and people on social media were quick to chime in with their thoughts.
